Locally-based Innovative Community Group is a group of dedicated citizens working in harmony with local developers and community leaders to help build a better, community-oriented Tucson.
We are creating a cohousing community that is dedicated to the idea that a vibrant, fully-integrated community values each member and purposefully and intentionally engages all its members. To this end, it is vital that the cohousing neighborhood and its residents are anchored within the community, not isolated from it. Through fully-accessible pathways, common areas, a community garden and clustered housing built to minimize energy use, we will contribute a cohesive, socially responsible and environmentally sustainable village.
We are designing this village as an urban community, for easy access to city services, cultural resources, public transportation, and shopping. Our individual homes will be fully equipped and private, but a common house will allow easy socializing and extra space. Keeping with our mission of a multi-generational and diverse community that reflects the current demographics of Tucson, a small number of our homes will be supported homes for persons needing extra assistance. To build a community engaged all day long, we will offer homes designed with live-work space. Our commercial component will encourage an entrepreneurial spirit and local business support by our neighbors.
